Tax Receipts and Emails

Email settings control transactional email and end-of-year receipt behavior.

Email settings control transactional email and end-of-year receipt behavior.

When To Use This

Use this area when your organization needs to review receipt settings, transactional email behavior, or end-of-year contact receipt configuration.

Before You Start

You need permission to manage email settings.

Available Areas

  • Transactional Emails: settings for emails sent around individual payment activity.

  • End of Year Tax Receipts or End of Year Donation Receipts: annual receipt configuration. The label depends on whether the organization is marked tax-exempt.

Each area lets admins configure the reply-to address, email subject, and message body. Message templates can include variables for contact and payment details.

Notes

Reply-to address, subject, and message body are required before saving. If a customized template no longer matches your needs, use Reset to Default when available and review the default copy before saving.

If your organization is not registered as tax-exempt in CharityStack, contact-facing emails and receipts do not include tax-deductible language. If your tax-exempt status changes, contact support.

Review transactional email settings before a major campaign or event so staff know which confirmations contacts will receive automatically.

Contacts can receive individual payment receipts after successful payments. End-of-year documents can be viewed, downloaded, or emailed from contact workflows when available.

When sending or downloading end-of-year documents from Contacts, select the tax year first. Contacts without activity for that year are not included in the generated documents.
